If you’ve been following my newsletters, you know I have a bit of a "thing" for Ireland. And no, I don't mean the Shamrock-sunglasses-and-green-beer kind of thing (but yes I wear them and yes I drink it, lol!). I mean the mist-rising-over-the-Atlantic, ancient-stone-walls, and "stay-up-too-late-talking-to-a-local-in-the-pub" kind of thing.
Ireland is one of those rare places that actually lives up to the hype, but only if you plan it right. The secret to a great Irish getaway isn't about how many miles you can cover; it’s about how many moments you can collect.

When clients say they want to stay in a castle, they are often picturing Ashford Castle or Dromoland Castle. And they should! These are 5-star icons for a reason. There is nothing quite like waking up in a 13th-century fortress, grabbing a coffee (or two—you know my rule!), and heading out for a private falconry lesson on the grounds.
But here’s my insider tip: Don’t just stay in one. Ireland’s "Manor House" culture is equally stunning. I love mixing a grand castle stay with a boutique estate like Mount Falcon or Ballynahinch Castle. It gives you a different "flavor" of Irish history, one that feels a bit more intimate and "tweed-jacket-by-the-fire."
2. Why the Private Driver is the Ultimate Luxury in your Custom Ireland Vacation
I’ll be honest: driving in Ireland is an experience. The roads are narrow, the sheep have the right of way, and the views are so distracting that you’ll want to pull over every five minutes.
This is why I almost always recommend a private driver-guide for my custom itineraries.

If you’re heading to Europe in 2026, you’ve likely heard about the new digital border rules (ETIAS and EES). Here is the best news you’ll hear all day: Ireland is the exception! Because Ireland isn’t part of the Schengen Area, you don't need to worry about the new ETIAS authorization or the fingerprint-scanning EES system for this trip. It makes Ireland one of the smoothest, most "old-school" entries in Europe right now. Just you, your passport, and a warm "Céad Míle Fáilte" (a hundred thousand welcomes).
4. Experience-First Planning
